Australia’s We Are The Brave Release Noctua EP + Download “Sparrow”

Australian duo We Are the Brave release their debut EP, Noctua, today. In celebration, they are offering a free MP3 of the EP track “Sparrow”. We Are the Brave were formed when Sydney based singer-songwriter Jess Chalker began to collaborate with underground hip-hop producer Ox Why. The pair of multi-instrumentalists found common ground in adventurous 80s pop, 90s sci-fi, vintage synthesizers, and Australian rock and were inspired to create a contemporary sound that also re-imagines their influences. The anthemic “Sparrow” achieves this and more with a giant chorus and mesmerizing vocal that weave around a driving rhythm and analog synths underscoring the Thelma and Louise style imagery.

Exclusive Download: Jessica Hernandez & the Deltas – Caught Up

Life has a way of letting us know what we’re supposed to do and when we’re supposed to do it. We can distract ourselves, but life is persistent. Jessica Hernandez knows that. She knows that no matter what gets in the way, time won’t stop for anyone. Be it struggles or triumphs, Hernandez is ready for whatever, whenever.

Raccoon Fighter – Santa Tereza

Raccoon Fighter have always been confident: quietly so. Which comes as a blatant departure from their music, which is not – quiet that is. It can only be described as a three part, tumultuous rock ‘n’ roll/ blues assault on the senses. Their sound consists of a gritty, cathartic blend of musical bravado and camaraderie that propels you forward. The gravely, enigmatic vocal offerings of Sean Gavigan combine and compete with those of Gabe Wilhelm and his hypnotic and visionary basslines, while Zac Ciancaglini adds a sharpness and drive rhythmically. With three stellar songwriting talents under one roof, the result is a frenetic and infectious powerhouse.

Ebony Bones Releases “Behold, A Pale Horse” Out Now + Download LIQUID LIQUID’s Remix

Ebony Bones has brought punk, pop and soul to new heights with her new album, Behold, A Pale Horse (released 8/6). Having developed a love for music at an early age, Ebony Bones—whose stage name was coined by punk rock icon Rat Scabies, drummer of The Damned— began her musical education in her father’s music stall in Brixton Market with artists like Brian Eno and Quincy Jones and as time went on her influences grew to include everyone from Siouxie Soux and The Slits to Fela Kuti and Public Enemy.

Natural Animal “Who You Are”

Born from the simplicity of an indie pop education applied to the electronic world,  Natural Animal is a nostalgic romance of tropical textures and dance floor rhythms. Hailing from Toronto,  Matt Hunter and Devon Wright's musical style is best described as a hybrid of Cut Copy, Miike Snow and Foster The People. It's tempting to label their sound as nu-disco or electro-pop, but there are much deeper and more organic elements at play. Hunter's polyrhythmic drum programming and melodic compositions combined with Wright's energetic vocals create an ethereal, captivating sound which is undeniably their own. Attending one of their shows will undoubtedly inspire a sing and dance along to the melodies and rhythms of their high-energy sound. The duo's ability to rework conventional pop song structures into dance floor friendly club tracks has not gone unnoticed. Most recently they have lent their production skills for remixes of Sony Music and Last Gang recording artists, Young Empires and Bear Mountain.

PARTY SUPPLIES RELEASES DEBUT LP “TOUGH LOVE” ON FOOL’S GOLD 8/27

Party Supplies is the American Dream. It is the sound of Justin Nealis, producer behind critically-acclaimed rap collabs with Action Bronson (Blue Chips) and Danny Brown ("Grown Up") setting up a mic stand behind his MPC and strapping on a Stratocaster. Joined by multi-instrumentalist Sean Mann, the two write classic rock from the future. Half Chromeo, half Easy Rider, the Brooklyn duo drop blue collar funk, school gym foot-stompers, and yearning city boy ballads over drum machine beats on their forthcoming Fool's Gold debut album, Tough Love. Inhale and salute.

Bands as emotive and enduring as Tunng don't come around too often. Across their decade together, the group have honed their pastoral pop to perfection, winning over audiences and critics one rustic twang of guitar, icy electronic echo and sumptuous whisper of vocals at a time to become one of Britain's most championed underground forces – fitting for an act who began literally underground, in the basement of a Soho women's clothing boutique some ten years ago.

Mr Oizo – Flat Beat (Aaron Snapes Rework)

A product of London, in his early years, Aaron browsed the club scene sampling from a variety of genres. In search of the right groove, he bounced from Old School Hip-Hop, to Drum & Bass, from Trance, to Garage, until one night, feeling clarity; he experienced a resonance with House music. Through the years, nurturing this interest became a passion for Snapes and he soon found himself at the helm of his own productions, creatively painting a musical canvas while developing his loosely defined Tech House sound. Clinging to the perimeter of this genre, 2012 found Aaron in Leeds, UK, where his music garnered attention from personal inspirations like Dirty Bird front man, Claude Von Stroke and House legend Derrick Carter.

Empire is GRMLN's album for the cruis'n world: Upbeat rock 'n' roll with the feel of '90s pop-punk. The new tracks are much more rock-driven than Explore's gentle, dreamy tunes. Wanting to capture the sound of a live band, Yoodoo Park recorded the album with his brother Tae San Park on bass and friend Keith Frerichs on drums. The Leisure Society New Album Alone Aboard The Ark April 16, 2013

Having recorded both The Sleeper and 2011's follow-up Into The Murky Water in home studios, the range of technology both old and new at the band's disposal at Konk proved to be the perfect foil for The Leisure Society's ambitious designs. Alone Aboard The Ark was recorded on a 2“ tape machine and a 1970s mixing desk, and the value of recording live, coupled with the band's minimal approach to arrangement, is borne out across the album. Nick Etwell’s (trumpeter to Mumford & Sons) brass lines permeate “One Man and His Fug“, whilst the electric guitar lines heard on “The Last in A Long Line“ were the product of Christian and Mike‘s two Gretches recorded playing at opposite ends of the studio. Even the piano part for “We Go Together“ underwent a nocturnal reinvention when Christian had 'a moment of inspiration, whilst deeply drunk at midnight listening to the playback“.

Despite its title, album track “Down On Your Luck” sets a bright, hopeful tone with twangy guitars and a playful vocal melody, while “Walk On Water” kicks it up a notch with raw vocals and screeching guitar solos. Tracks like the melancholic “If It Ain’t Me” and the powerfully optimistic “Faith & Love” showcase the band’s vulnerable side.

San Francisco’s Ash Reiter return with their new LP “HOLA” – Out TODAY on 20 Sided Records!

San Francisco's Ash Reiter are back with their second full-length album "HOLA" with ten tracks of instantly catchy, '60s pop inspired tunes. "HOLA" has been a long time in the making. The band began recording the album with engineer Carlos Arredondo at New Improved Recording in Oakland (Tune-yards and Deerhoof) shortly after the release of "Paper Diamonds" in 2010. They gradually added to the album with home studio overdubs, adding as many as one hundred tracks to some songs. This attention to detail and lush production sets "HOLA" apart from your average indie band. The songs are both playful and thought provoking; they stir something in the listener. The lyrics tackle unusual themes; in "Little Sandy" Reiter explores the American pioneer experience. The song "Ishi" uses the troubled life of California's historical figure Ishi: The Last of His Tribe, for subject matter. While "I've Got Something I Can Laugh About" follows themes of embarrassment and Reiter's own struggle with anxiety and panic attacks. Not the stuff of your typical pop song, but perhaps that's what is so appealing about this band—they are familiar but a little weird. And you can expect more weirdness to come with future recordings.

White Arrows stands at these balmy crossroads like a vision from an alternate reality: classic without leaning on nostalgia, visionary but not unfamiliar. Call it Psychotropical pop, something both busy and breezy. Call it Paul Simon in space (others have). Call it what you will. This is White Arrows.

THE ORWELLS DROP SINGLE “IN MY BED”

For The Orwells, Remember When will be an introduction of sorts-the 12-track rat-race shows the band's repertoire of pranging riffs and sneering, snot-nosed vocals. The tracks are a walloping war-cry from a generation that up until this point has only offered bubblegum pop--thus the animus of The Orwells. It's quite clear early on the in listening to the LP that the band is well aware of the past, the homage rings through the record, using the ghost of punk's past as their musical sprit guide. However, the band straddles the thing line between their influences and their originality, ripping riffs and smashing drums in such a fashion that their age becomes unimportant.
