Civil Wars consist of Joy Williams and John Paul White. Playing at Hotel Café accommodated their music ambience perfectly, adding a private atmosphere and close interaction with the crowd. It marked their first west coast appearance leading the crowd craving for more. The pair performed a series of cover songs including Billy Jean by Michael Jackson and the famous lullaby You Are My Sunshine. Williams’ vocals soothed the audience while hitting high pitched notes throughout the night. White added deeper layers along with his acoustic guitar. They managed to entertain the crowd between songs by exposing a comical side to their on stage chemistry. The duo maintained laughs and smiles during songs as the crowd enjoyed every minute.

Their American folk sound quickly adapts new fans across all spectrums. Although their stage show is simple, they manage to excel above all expectations by singing, playing a baby grand piano and soft acoustic guitar melodies. They closed the night with their latest single Poison & Wine currently available online and promoted their upcoming album Barton Hallow due early next year. Keep your ears open for this talented pair because they are going to make a lot of noise in the independent scene.
