Meet the Charities:
Shower of Hope is an initiative from Monday Night Mission, an organization operating on Skid Row´s streets feeding the homeless from Monday through Friday, all 52 weeks of the year. Partnering with the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission, their goal is to operate a mobile shower throughout Los Angeles. This will not only offer the dignity of a shower, but also give direct referrals to housing, mental healthcare and veterans benefits as a means to a path out of homelessness.
My Friend’s Place assists and inspires homeless youth to build self-sufficient lives. In collaboration with the leading social services providers and educational institutions in the region as well as over 500 volunteers, they offer a free and comprehensive continuum of care that combines emergency necessities with therapeutic, health, employment and education assistance, and creative arts services.
Casa Libre offers an emergency and transitional living shelter program for homeless children under the age of 18. The program’s expertise lies in the provision of shelter, social, educational, medical and legal services for homeless children, with a focus on unaccompanied immigrant children who have often been abused, abandoned, or neglected in their home countries and traveled to the United States alone. The actual house is a historic landmark in LA, designed by the same architect that designed the LA Colosseum.
