Cold War Kids previous album, 2014’s Hold My Home, debuted at No. 8 on the US Alternative Album chart and spawned the gold-certified single “First, ” which peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart, where it spent six weeks in the top spot. The track has racked up more than 129 million streams across Soundcloud, YouTube, and Spotify combined and was heard on American Idol, The Biggest Loser, Suits, Quantico and in the trailer for the film Aloha. This year Cold War Kids performed at Coachella, Governors Ball, Lollapalooza Brazil, Shaky Knees, and Bottle Rock.

In October, Cold War Kids celebrated the 10th anniversary of their debut album Robbers & Cowards. On its website, the band wrote: “It was that kind of spontaneous, whatever works, constant writing recording and playing that lead us to recording Robbers & Cowards in about 10 days. Ten years later, of course it’s different now. I always want us to grow and explore new avenues, but that energy, the scene around us, being so constantly in the moment, is a feeling you always try to get back.”
