Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears will release their fourth full-length album Backlash on February 10 (INgrooves). The album sees the return to their take on classic soul and punked-up R&B, and is their most stylistically adventurous work so far. The “PTP” video was directed / animated by Barcelona-based illustrator Roger Haus.

Recorded in the band’s hometown of Austin, Backlash is their most stylistically adventurous work so far, and expands their sound by bringing gritty guitar tones and Stax-styled horn sections to intricate, danceable arrangements inspired by the likes of Nile Rodgers. The album delivers a host of songs rooted in regret but steeped in a defiant spirit. Backlash ultimately unfolds as an album both joyfully chaotic and intensely cathartic.

Known for their can’t-miss, full-throttle live show, Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears are also set for a North American headline tour, the band’s first comprehensive run since 2013. They have also announced an in-store at Austin’s Waterloo Records on release day (Jan 20 at 5pm CST). Pre-order Backlash at shop.blackjoelewis.com and see full tour dates below.
