Zella Day has spent the greater part of the year in and out of recording studios, channeling creative ambitions while tirelessly creating material for her upcoming sophomore album release. After a much-needed escape, she made her first live performance of 2017 Tuesday night at the Moroccan Lounge in downtown LA. The singer/songwriter attracted a sold-out crowd as fans crammed around anticipating new material. Accompanied by a live band, Zella began the night with ‘Where The Devil Hides.’ Focusing predominately on new material, fans relished in delight as they experienced unreleased tracks in an intimate space. The roots of ‘Chinatown’ dated back to her years in grade school, expressing her creative influences and motivations from an early age.
Shifting back and forth between acoustic guitars and rattlers, Zella delivered mesmerizing performances throughout the night. Fans responded warmly to ‘Almost Good’ as the emotional and heartfelt melodies captivated everyone present. ‘Man on The Moon’ touched on familiar ground with the audience as she expressed that Los Angeles always provides a home crowd concert atmosphere. Singer Korey Dane helped close the night alongside Zella as they performed their recent collaboration ‘Blood On The Mattress.’ Fans cheered in support as the band thanked the crowd for their passion and dedication. Filled with passion, emotion, and immense energy, Zella is a must-see performer. The new content provides uplifting layers of love and dedication with a healthy balance of powerful and moody harmonies that compliment one another. The untitled album has approximately a dozen written songs. The follow up to 2015’s ‘Kicker’ record is anticipated to be released early spring of 2018 with a tour to follow.
